How long does a Trademark Registration take?
You can start using the 'TM' symbol within 24 hours of filing the application. However, the complete registration process, which includes examination, publication in the journal, and waiting for third-party opposition, takes about 6 to 12 months.
What is the validity of a registered Trademark?
A registered trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of application. It can be renewed indefinitely every 10 years by paying the prescribed renewal fees before expiry.
Can I claim a government fee concession?
Yes. The standard government fee for filing a trademark is Rs. 9,000 for corporates. However, individuals, sole proprietors, startups, and MSMEs with valid Udyam Registration get a 50% concession, reducing the government fee to Rs. 4,500.
